I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room (106) however, once I stepped further into the room, the smaller problems were revealed. To start there were tiny black hairs on the bed, along with black marks on the bed sheets. There were also black smears across the decorative pillow. We were lucky to be given a fan due to hot weather, but we had to unplug the kettle, tv and lamp so that we could plug in our phones and fan due to there being no spare plugs. Please note these plugs were not close to the bed either. I brushed the hairs off and got myself sorted feeling hopefully to make the best of the situation, but this only went downhill. The mattress was broken. It was flat as a pancake. I will admit the cushions were lovely and soft, but that was probably the only positive about the bed. When we mentioned the broken mattress to the staff they said all they could offer was a free drink. Overall, we didn’t spend much time in the room so it was sufficient for the two nights we stayed. it was also a very convenient location. However, we have come away with sore back from the broken mattress. The rose and crown has such potential but I would not be willing to spend more money there until they had some major upgrades. less
