We concur that it is not deserving of a 5-star rating

My husband and I have visited Paris before and have stayed on the left bank (6th arr.). We thought we would try a new neighborhood and take advantage of the great rate we got for this “5 star property”. First of all, the lobby is super small and the rooms aren’t very spacious either. We arrived in the morning to find others waiting around complaining that their rooms weren’t ready. While I understand that late afternoon check ins are common, the staff didn’t seem sensitive to those who have traveled a far distance to get there and are very tired, and just want a shower and a chance to relax for a moment. They sent us on our way to return after 3pm. We asked if they could suggest somewhere for us to get lunch, and the woman at the front desk just told us two different streets to walk down. We were hoping for some more specific recommendations because the last thing we wanted to do was go online and try to research a good place. Also, the clientele was a bit strange. Lots of young urban males using profanity loudly while talking in the lobby. We felt like we were in a cheap hotel in New York or Miami. While this was not the fault of the hotel, it didn’t add to our Parisian experience. Lastly, the area we were in was filled with department stores and chain stores. While that might be a draw for some, it is not for me!! Next time we come back, we will stay somewhere else. less
Jean-Louis D, Directeur général at Maison Albar Hotels - Le Diamond, responded to this review
First of all, I would like to thank you for choosing Maison Albar Hotels – Le Diamond for your last stay in Paris, and would like to thank you for taking the time to write this review.
However, I am truly sorry to read your experience did not fulfill your expectations and that you did not feel in our Parisian Maison at ease.
Please be assured I will talk to the Front Office Manager as this is really not the service that we are looking to give to our valuable guests, and that we always do our best to accommodate our clients, upon availability in the morning and night before and capacity of our Maison.
I understand you might have gone from a long and tiring journey to get in our nice Capital, and that was not the way you wanted to be welcomed – and I will make sure this does not happen in the future.
However, we cannot guaranty that any room will be ready before 3:00pm, but of course we can welcome our guests in the lobby with a coffee, tea or detox water, or just keep the luggage for them to go and discover the city.
Overall, I would like to apologize once again for the inconvenience and that your experience in our Maison did not add to your Parisian stay.
I hope anyway that I can win back your trust and help you organize your forthcoming stay – maybe in one of our Sister hotels – please feel free to contact me directly at Jeanfirstname.lastname@example.org.
