Caught in a time warp.
Visit to Hotel 52 3 days ago.
My wife and I were looking for a hotel with easy access to the beach in Whitley Bay. The location of Hotel 52 seemed just right.
The glossary suggested that there was 'free parking'. Yes. this was correct.
Parking for 3 cars!!!!! I managed to parallel park with the others, be it on the main road.
The room, which I asked for, which was distanced from the 'Bar' next door, was through endless corridors and swing doors on the 1st. floor. Sadly there was no insulation between the rooms, so any movement outside transmitted into the bedroom. Having just come from a modern 'Travelodge', the room seemed 'caught in a time warp and reminded me of many years ago, when I went with folk to a b&b in Blackpool. There were two light switches. One in the room and one in the en-suite and I still have the bed springs imprinted on my back!
To be fair, the en-suite was decent, apart from a wobbly toilet seat.
We were constantly disturbed by the deep barking of a dog next door.
When departing, we were said 'good bye' to by this dog at 0645 the following morning. What the other guests thought, I shudder to think.
Sadly I paid £82 for the room. On reflections, it probably was not worth half of this amount. Should have done my home work on reviews. Never again. less
