We went to Dumfries for a wee 3 day break and because it was b & b we had to eat out for dinner. tried booking various eateries in the town but ALL were booked up ! came across Station hotel and phoned - no problem getting a table (I wondered why)? Its a tired looking place that needs massive investment.
We got talking to 4 other guests and they had ordered the Fish dish (basically Fish and Chips) saying was good - so we did the same....Mistake the fish was in its infancy and the chips were nearing black with no taste I selected 3 chips - ate them and left the rest. Complained to the waiter/barman/dish washer and he said he would pass on my complaint. Even with the 50% off it still wasn't good value. Seems some renovation has started but think it might be some rooms personally think their wasting their time. would NOT recommend this place for anything... less
