Up until now I have felt confident in booking a Best Western hotel in any city as we go traveling. Those days are over. We were staying in Lafayette over Christmas to be with family so we booked for a week. We actually made it through 4 disappointing nights before we said enough is enough. We were concerned about the quality of the hotel when we first entered, but thought that we would only be sleeping there so it should be fine. Famous last words.
Sleeping was uncomfortable with the noisy window air unit blowing on us all night. That may or may not be the reason for my sore throat.
The breakfast food is very skimpy and low quality.
The hotel keys never, ever worked from one day to the next. Every night when we came back to the hotel we had to get new keys.
One morning they came to do up the room when we were still there and we told them to come back about noon. When we left at noon I called the front desk to remind them. No one answered and I got a recording saying I could not leave a message. When we got back to our hotel that night nothing had been done; the trash and dirty towels were left as is. We called to get towels and we were brought two hand towels. We were told they had no more towels. We suggested they could bring some towels from an unoccupied room and we were told that would be done. The towels never came.
No hot water for showers one morning.
When we went out into the halls in the morning there were lots of friendly workers milling around, but I don't know that much was getting done.
This is important. If you want to stay in a hotel on this side of town you do not have to stay here. There are many nice hotels in the area. We had family at two different hotels, one next door and one a block away, and they both had good experiences. When we finally changed hotels we checked into a Doubletree just a half mile away that was just a few dollars more a night. We are staying there now and it is like night and day difference.
I like to write a good review to let readers know when we've had a good experience. I feel this review is at least as relevant. less
