This was a last minute pick, driven entirely by cost (managed to get a really good deal on a random website!) but it turned out well. The location is perfect, with the harbor area just a minute away, and it's also walkable from the bus/train stations if you don't have too much luggage. However, even though it's very central the area around the hotel is quiet.
I was in a small double room (417), with a very comfortable bed and good chair to relax in. As previous reviewers have mentioned though, the bathroom was tiny to the extent that it wasn't possible to sit 'square' on the toilet as it's tightly placed between the wall and the shower; even with the show door open, you have to sit sideways! On the positive side, the underfloor heating was nice and the water pressure/shower temperature good. Storage space in the room was also limited (no drawers; only a small built-in wardrobe) so a couple might struggle on longer stays.
An unexpected bonus was the number of English language programmes on the TV (everything from movies to Poirot!), which is nice for relaxing at the end of a long day. The breakfast selection was good, though I didn't try any of the hot items. The breakfast area was always busy so it could be a bit of a challenge to find somewhere to sit (especially being a solo traveler, as the smallest table was for four) but was always able to squeeze in somewhere.
One thing to note is that quite a few websites say that there are minibars in the rooms, but this is not the case. A very nice lady at reception told me that it's been a few years since the minibars were taken out so if this is a deal breaker, you'll need to look elsewhere. less
