After a frustrating search for the hotel, which was half a mile from where Google maps told me it was, a warm welcome awaited us by a friendly, helpful, down-to-earth receptionist.
The hotel is modern, clean, cheerful, with an attractive lounge and dining area. The bar is open til 0100. The choice of beers isn't great but they do have Old Speckled Hen, albeit in bottles.
The 'Standard' bedroom was comfortable but very small; there was a suitcase stand but nowhere to put it! The suitcase had to be balanced on the only chair in the room!
Ladies, be aware the shower is one of those fixed ones, with a large head so, if you don't want wet hair, take a shower cap (not supplied). Alternatively, use one of the plastic bag bin liners, like I did!
Overall, a great hotel but if you're planning on spending a lot of time in your room, consider upgrading to a larger one. Of course, I can only speak with my experience of room 103. (Curiously, they advertise an even smaller room, which they call 'cosy'. The mind bogleth! ) less
