This hotel has obviously just finished a renovation. Actually I shouldn't say finished, since they are still working on the 7th floor. I was trying to work from my room this afternoon and there was loud banging and drilling going on a couple of rooms down. I can't hold that against them though because not many people are stuck in their hotel room at 2 in the afternoon so I'm sure they thought that they wouldn't be bothering anyone.
My room is nice. The bed is comfortable,
but the first night the sheets were too big and had a hard time staying put. The wi-fi is pretty good, though I wished there was also the option to plug in with a line to get a more consistent connection. The room is clean and obviously just redone. Everything in it seems brand new including the ironing board, the shower curtain, and the hair dryer. It's so brand new that I found a piece of wire in my bed from them working on wiring and another one on the floor.
. The toiletries are okay but there is no lotion. I would think that would be a small cost to the hotel and would add a nice bonus for the guest. The bathroom is a little too small to be functional. You can't really do much to get ready comfortably in the bathroom. Also, when you turn on the light switch it turns on a very loud bathroom fan. The fan would be nicer if it could be turned on and off independently of the light.
They have a shuttle that will take you anywhere within 3 miles of the hotel. That was a nice benefit. I wished it ran a little later into the evening though. The breakfast is included with your room right and it was okay. Front desk staff are very nice and helpful. I I hoped to get a drink at the hotel bar one evening but it had closed early. That was disappointing.
The most problematic part of the stay is that the temperature unit in the room doesn't control the temperature. They have obviously just put a new one in, because there's a big hole underneath the thermostat. The wall literally has a big hole where the old one used to be I guess. That looks bad, but is not as bad as not being able to control the temperature in your room. I asked the cleaning lady when she was in today if she knew how to do it and she said I was doing it right but there was a known problem. I'm not sure what's wrong with it but no matter what temperature I set the thermostat at it doesn't change the temperature of the room. So it's been either too hot or too cold for the whole stay. It's nothing that is hugely disturbing but the temperature of the room is something that I expect to be able to control while I'm at a hotel.
The renovations of the spaces seem to be well done they just need to go back in and check each room to make sure all of the little things are functional. Hotel seems surprisingly empty so I hope that they get some gas to start staying here to recoup their renovation investments less
