Travelled with my Daughter for a two day spa type relaxing break. The hotel is situated in beautiful, rural surroundings, I think you would need a car to go anywhere else nearby, not entirely sure of what if anything is within walking distance. If this is what you are looking for then this hotel would fit the bill perfectly as it has everything you would possibly need. The hotel reception is very grand with a bar set back serving the usual bar snacks and drinks throughout the day and night. There is also a restaurant if you fancy some a la carte meals, the food was very good both in the bar and the restaurant. Our hotel room was a family room, it was big enough to suit our needs, it was very clean although the bathroom was a little on the small side it was fine for a couple of days. There was the usual TV with a good choice of channels though appeared to be lacking in some older kids channel's. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits were replenished every day. The hotel has a health and leisure club open to residents with the usual Jacuzzi, Sauna, Steam room and two pools, one predominantly lane swimming and the other for families and children etc. The facilities allow children of age 12 to about 16 I think to use them under adult supervision. The spa called 'Cleopatras' is independent and situated in the health and leisure club. This is a great little spa and I have reviewed it separately. This hotel is fantastic if you want a couple of days rest and relaxation with the possibility of some spa treatments thrown in. I have only one bug bear about this hotel and that is Breakfast. The cost of Breakffast is £10.00 per person per day across the board. There doesn't appear to be any other options and nothing for children. I think the cost of £10 is drastically over priced. If you don't eat much in the morning, normally a piece of toast and a cup of coffee would be fine for me but it would work out to be the most expensive piece of toast and cup of coffee in living history. Therefore I cannot comment on the Breakfast as I refused to pay that price on principle. I have no idea what is included but would expect the usual Orange Juice, Cereal, Yoghurt, Full cooked breakfast, 4 piece toast rack and tea or coffee. Taking all of these into account, I still think it is over priced. There is a pub in the nearby village of Ecclestone selling it for less than half the price. The hotel is missing out not giving the option for different levels of breakfast. Other than that this hotel is great and I would definitely return. less
