My boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to London for his birthday.
On arrival at the hotel my boyfriend checked us in. The member of staff behind the desk forgot to tell him about breakfast, the times and where the restaurant for breakfast was. After she had answered his questions she gave us our key to the room. To get to the room it was a maze going up and down stairs and round bends to find it. When we got to the room it looked pleasant. The advertisement for the bed was 'kingsize' and by kingsize they meant two single beds pushed together. We dropped off our stuff and decided to explore London. We arrived back to the hotel at 9 to which we had to solve the maze again, when we arrived at the room and we were greeted with the sound of on-going traffic and the talking of people on the street, figuring out were underground with the vent in the room leading straight to outside, which acts as a window as there is none in the room we were provided with. My boyfriend then went to ask reception if we could swap rooms as an hour later we still couldn't settle as the traffic was getting louder. The staff on the desk said that they had never heard of this before and didn't seem interested, they then offered to move us in the morning to a room on a higher ground, stating that if she wasn't in she would write down for someone else to move us. After we finally manage to get to sleep we are woken up at 6:20am by a fire alarm, me & my boyfriend jump out of bed only to reach the door for the alarm to go off, ringing for less than a minute, panic over as we don't have to run thru the maze to find the fire exits we haven't been told where they are.
When we woke up we went to breakfast, when we got there the waitress left us waiting and looked at us like 'why are you here' when she seated us she tried to sit us directly behind another couple who wouldn't be able to get out from the table or ourselves she then swapped us for a smaller table right next to a bucket catching water from the leaking ceiling. Breakfast itself was shocking, my boyfriend got cereal where the milk was like water and tasted nothing like milk, also I made toast in the toaster which set a light, the waitress was nowhere around so I had to pop my head into the kitchen to tell them, the first person didn't understand me the four times I tried to tell him the toast is on fire, luckily another member of staff heard and sorted it out. After "breakfast" we asked about the moving of our rooms, they told us if we leave our stuff they'd move it for us. After we returned from Harry Potter studios we asked for our new room key, they gave us a key and off we went to the new room. We opened the door to find that they had give us a room people were actually staying in with expensive personal belongings in there. We then returned to the reception to tell them. After explaining what had happened the staff were confused telling us they didn't know about it and pulling out stuff out of their back room. After finding us a new room the lady then escorted us up to our room letting us in. While we waited for them in the lobby a couple returned to the desk a number of times to tell them their key wasn't working. The new room was okay looking we put our stuff in the room and went to get some tea. At night there was still traffic noise but not as bad as the first room and the bed was genuinely a king size bed not two pushed together. 8am we were awoken by builders outside the windows banging and drilling removing rubble off the outside of the room. We skipped breakfast as of the let down yesterday. The quicker we checked out the better. The over all review of the hotel, shocking. Just don't waste your money the staff are disorganised, not helpful and don't seem bothered, the best thing about the hotel is the shower. less
