Let's start with the price of the room: £160 a night. We stayed two.
There was no illumination in the car park and as we arrived at 10pm we needed to use lights from our phones to find the way.
The walk to our room should have prepared us, with cobwebs everywhere they could be and 3 sets of exposed, raw cable.
The room was not much better, again cobwebs and spiders everywhere. The TV remote was FILTHY....just how long does it take to give it a quick wipe? It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Everything seemed to have a film of grime. Flies were constantly cohabiting the halls, bar and our room; never a good sign. The decor was extremely dated and none of it matched, again not a huge issue if the room had been priced accordingly. The bed was also on a biggg tilt and the mattress very old - your legs are higher than your head, your bum sunken in deep enough to need the jaws of life to prize you out. The shower was on a mixer tap, fantasticly powerful but when it's constantly running hot then cold, that isn't a desirable quality. The WiFi did not work at any point through the duration of our stay.
Breakfast was wrong both mornings (once in our room, once in the restaurant). We were attending a wedding here, we had a sit down dinner and I honestly cannot understand how they could so spectacularly ruin chicken in a "creamy" sauce with potatoes and vegetables. It was an absolute DISASTER, the chicken seemed to have been 'cooked' in a dehydrator, rather than an oven.
We were intruded upon by housekeeping at 10:45am Saturday despite having the DND sign on the door. She said "you DO realise check out is at 11?!" really? Even for guests staying the following night in the same room? No. It was her mistake and she did apologise but why be so curt in the first place?
The staff at the wedding were somewhat of an unocastrated bunch, they didn't seem to have a clue what their jobs were or how to do them. A number of the rest of the staff were really quite rude, as they blocked doorways whilst having a chat for far longer than acceptable (having seen we were waiting with bags to get through), complained about other guests publicly and openly and generally thought that all customers were quite the nussance.
None of this could be considered even close to reasonable service but would be acceptable if not for the extortionate room prices. If the room was £65 I might stay there again, for the location (on the beach), but definitely not £160.
