Our stay here was on the recommendation of a local, and a last minute decision, before visiting relations further North. Our initial impression was unhelpful staff, but think we arrived at a difficult time, and on a holiday weekend. The staff were mostly very pleasant and although some of them were not very skilled in service were nice to deal with. Our room, large for England, overlooked the sea, very clean, was quiet, nicely decorated, very restful, comfortable bed, adequate bathroom, had tea-making facilities. We did have to carry our luggage up a few flight of stairs, which was not arduous. Had we asked I am sure the staff would have helped us. They gladly gave us extra towels and tea items when we asked, opened doors etc. Breakfast was huge, very English traditional. Second morning they were OK with us refining our order, and bringing us a modified version.
It was pleasant to have some of the old features of a traditional establishment with the modern facilities we now expect.
The pub restaurant next door was average pub food and better than most we experienced within the area.
Did have some trouble with wi-fi in the room. That is not always the fault of the hotel.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel. Stayed 3 nights and felt it was a reasonably priced hotel. less
