We stayed at the Best Western in Minot for a weekend to do some Christmas shopping with our new baby. I always shop around for prices, and this hotel is really close to the mall but nowhere near the price of the mall's attached hotel. It would have been cold to walk, but less than five minutes to get from your room to the mall. We paid 111 per night (CDN) for a full family Suite, which I think was very fair.
Check in was easy and straightforward- staff were friendly and efficient. Parking was also convenient, easy and free.
We got the king suite you requested but realized afterwards that although it says that they are "Pool View", a few suites don't actually face the pool, they face a wall. This was totally fine with us, but something to be aware of! We have a 3 month old, and were not looking to be viewing the pool the entire time. It also help to reduce any noise. However, having said that, there really wasn't a lot of noise considering we were that close to the pool. We are light sleepers and had absolutely no issues.
The room was fairly standard - a bit dated but it's what we expected for the price. The bathroom was particularly dated, and had the Cream coloured tub - but everything was clean. We lucked out on a toilet that ran constantly and was a bit of a pain but to be fair, didn't bother telling front desk staff.
There were sliding glass doors to go out towards the pool area which were convenient (once we figured out how to open them) and the hotel planners had obviously thought ahead because they had the living area (couch, TV, desk) closer to the pool than the bedroom area. The door between the two rooms was great for baby'shower naps.
We noticed a lot of other families use the pool for letting their children play, but relaxing and socializing poolside at the tables provided. I really liked the subdued lighting at the pool - not the crazy glaring fluorescents that scream "kids pool". It looks like this will be a fun getaway with a group of families or relatives. The pool itself was good, based on the other
pools I've seen hotels. There was a hot tub and a regular pool with a fenced-off shallow area for younger kids.
Now, I have to say my favourite part of the hotel was the breakfast. There is a nice, modern sitting area with hot waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy as well as breads, cereals and yogurts. I love a hot breakfast - especially when it's included!
Overall we were really pleased with this hotel - particularly for its location but also for its price and pool set up. There are several competitors like the Comfort Inn nearby but we would stay here again! less
