I have stayed here a few times recently, and while I keep trying to love the hotel I have never managed too.
My first stay was very disturbed by the building work, while I knew this was occurring its the first time I have stayed in a hotel which has working going on which started in the room next to mine at 8am
I was also caught out by the breakfast costing much more if you dont pre-book- this difference was refunded when I complained.
plus the servers were having a 'bad day' and were very slow- but the food was great.
I stayed again, this time it was pouring with rain- not their fault, but having arrived in the hotel the 'Free upgrade' to the garden room was actually the last thing I wanted as meant going back into the rain to get to the room, and as a female travelling solo I was not actually that keen on the garden chalet.
The last time I stayed, and sadly it will be the last time, as I have run out of patience, again featured the 'free upgrade', it was again raining, but this time this was made more fun by reception being moved due to the building work. OK- thats not a real issue, but the only sign is only visible from the old reception- so you actually walk past the temporary reception to get to the old one!
Breakfast was a bit of a disaster- normally there is a great selection of cereals, but this time it was a choice of bran flake, all bran, or whetabix- not great if you cannot eat any of these- I mentioned this, and was told 'its all we have, we are waiting on a delivery'- which sadly hadnt turned up by the next day!
The cooked breakfast was poorly cooked on the first day, and despite asking for no beans I got beans- when I complained my breakfast was replaced, but a tip to the chef- if reusing breakfast items, please wipe the sauce off of the sausage...
The cooked breakfast the day was actually excellent- just as I mentioned let down by lack of buffet options!
In general the staff try to be good, but the whole place just keeps not quite getting it right! less
