Our daughter booked a night at this hotel for us as a Christmas present. She also booked afternoon tea. The hotel is down a narrow, windy road, although I think for the most part our Sat Nav may have taken us down the very scenic route as the windy roads seemed to last forever!
We stayed in Oak room. We were very pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to this massive room. It has a huge bed, two seater sofa, armchair and footstool plus a wheeled chair at the desk. There is a big mirror above the desk, meaning it's ideal to sit down and dry your hair after a shower. There were plenty of plug sockets and also USB sockets to charge your iPad, laptops, phones, etc. and a big TV on the wall.
There is a wardrobe to hang your coats, etc. in plus a safe. The usual tea and coffee with kettle but this time with the addition of hot chocolate which was a very nice change as it's not normally included anywhere. There was also some biscuits and two bottles of water. The bathroom was gorgeous. Lovely and modern and with a huge walk in shower. Beautifully clean. There was a thermostat on the wall so that you could adjust the heating to a comfortable level. This room overlooked the car park but there are others with garden or pond views.
We went down to the Watermark restaurant for our afternoon tea. After a short wait while our table was prepared we were taken to a window table with a lovely view of Frensham Pond. I don't like tea or coffee but they were quite happy to bring me hot chocolate. They brought out the sandwiches first. Cheese and pickle, ham and piccalilli, egg mayonnaise and salmon and cucumber. Next the cakes with little fruit tarts, mini éclairs, squares of fruit cake, strawberry and cream sponge, fruity and plain scones with jam and cream. The dishes were full of jam and cream. More than enough for 2 people. No skimping there! The food was lovely and the staff attentive and helpful. We would definitely go again, we really enjoyed it. less
