I ended up at this hotel by accident. Having been working in the area and finding myself leaving late and needing accommodation this was the only place within 25 miles priced below £100. It looked ok, so I booked. The room was freezing! Bearing in mind it was minus 5 outside you'd think the heating would be on, but no, they only put the heating on when you arrive it seems! The internet was shockingly slow in the room and I was unable to get on line. More luck in the restaurant, which is a bit of a blast from the 1980's.
I ordered food, it's not bad. There's no choice but the Christmas menu. (It's 30th November). The soup came in a tiny bowl on a doily. A doily!! No napkins, not sure if you're supposed to wipe your hands on the tablecloth! The fondant potatoes have been left under the heat lamp for too long as one half was rock hard. Very pretentious service, although polite. The main course was ok, although the shouting of 'service' periodically from the kitchen was annoying to say the least!
I get that this is a budget priced hotel. The welcome of more sparkly lights on the trees outside than Las Vegas sort of gives away that there is a level of tackiness involved here.
This would have been a much better experience with a warm room and decent internet. less

It is with great shame read that, overall, your experience was not a memorable one for the positive.
In regards to your bedroom, would you kindly send me an email with your details so I can ascertain exactly which room you stayed in? (firstname.lastname@example.org)Our units have been recently serviced therefore I am keen to address urgently.
You have provided some feedback surrounding our menu. I appreciate that without prior knowledge of our menu this may have come as a surprise however we have advertised for the past six months that our festive menu would commence from November 30th. Furthermore, we have an extensive selection from our Bar Menu ranging from Steaks to Curry, Fish & Chips to Beef Bourguignon. The option is there for guests to consume from this menu in the picturesque setting of our Watermark Restaurant. Please accept my apologies if this was not communicated to you at the time.
In relation to the other points raised during your meal, I will endeavour to address these with our Food & Beverage Manager.
Our Christmas decorations are displayed throughout the hotel and although we value your feedback this is potentially one area we may have to respectfully agree to disagree.
