Booked the Guy Fawkes Inn on a recommendation from someone else.
Upon checking in I asked where the car park was (as there is no parking facility at the inn) 3 members of staff knew the name but had no clue of any directions which I found odd as one of the staff purported to be a ‘manager’
We were not told of any discounted parking either which apparently there is...
Very small bar, which is fine but is in dire need of a damn good clean!
The whole place is very dark, dingy and depressing, which is a shame as the location is fantastic.
Room again just ok... TV needs to be fixed to the wall, so you can see the whole screen and not just half.
A shelf or such like needs to be put up to save guests from boiling the kettle On they floor... Curtains have seen better days too.
Room is very very noisy, from either customers downstairs at 3am 4am or people coming home from a night out in York. Double glazing would put paid to the noise outside.
But the noise coming from the bar needs to be regulated and monitored especially after 12 midnight.
Dinner... food was good but on the expensive side £25 for a steak, I asked for a mixed salad and paid £4.25 for a handful of mixed leaves which constitutes a garnish in my book.
Breakfast was iffy, coffee from flasks, mini boxes of cereal and yogurts, and a full Yorkshire breakfast is on offer but not up to scratch 1/2 a mushroom on a full breakfast! Cold toast, toasted on a panini grill, the best thing was the eggs and beans.
The whole place is in dire need of a refurb and a deep clean!!
I would not return which is a shame because we enjoyed York immensely.
I attach a photo of the salad.... less
