Having read the reviews we decided to have a meal here as a pre Christmas treat. Was disappointed from the start, was shown to a small table packed with dirty glasses and bottles and no self distancing going on, only to be told they thought we were with another party....implying our 11 year old daughter was older than that....disgraceful.
Eventually being seated, we were rudely interrupted by a group whom had clearly been drinking alot and was being rather loud, northern accents, sluring ordering bottles of champagne and instead of a nice family dinner there was hardly any space between us and table next to us, or behind us.
I'm aware it's a historic inn, but, still.....we paid well over a hundred pound for three of us and I expect for that money amazing food and a good atmosphere.
The waitress was lovely, cant fault her, but some of the staff clearly need help with customer service and how to deal with children customers also.
Needs some training on how to manage covid regulations too as self distancing really was not happening.
Such a shame. less
