My wife and I were staying in Emporia, Kansas for a friends wedding and had decided to book a suite because it was actually the weekend of our anniversary as well. When we arrived, we were a little skeptical of this hotel at first due to the outside of it. It appeared to be a little on the old looking side. It wasn't because of damage or decay; but in fact, just the older style of siding on the buildings. When we went in, we kindly greeted and our reservation was all ready to go. It took us no time at all getting into our room. (I was a little worried because I booked it online) When we got into our room, were very impressed, the room was very clean and spacious. It offered a very comfortable feeling. Our room was connected to the main lobby and it did make for a noisy evening with a party being hosted, but that did not seem to affect our stay. We had a good nights sleep but were awoken twice by room service coming into the room thinking no one was there. I did not place the "Do not disturb" slide in the door so I can see why they thought it was okay. However, they were both at early times when I feel like most people would be sleeping at a hotel, especially on the weekend. Besides that, all the desk service members were extremely helpful and informative and the restaurant staff was good and provided us with excellent service. The restaurant food was also very tasty and I enjoyed the change from some hotels just serving a buffet. Our breakfast was prepared hot and fresh. I will say, that anyone looking to have fun or find things to do is not going to have the best experience in Emporia. The city does not have a lot to offer as far as entertainment and shopping go. My wife and I found out the local mall had a grand total of about 6 stores and the adjacent theater was limited on showings. There a lot of restaurants around and some fun little stores on main street. But the town seems to shut down around 6:00pm so everyone should try to experience the local stores and parks before then. Overall, not a bad experience. less
