We got there after a long drive and after sorting ourselves out in our room, we looked at the "in room information" on the desk and noticed they advertised a free shuttle bus to the airport. We also fancied a drink in tne bar before dinner so went downstairs to do both. We asked the girl at reception about the shuttle bus and she told us they didn't have one. I then looked outside at a minibus bearing their name and looked questionally back at her and she just shrugged and started to serve a French man behind us, who had just butted in.
So we wondered away to the bar. The recptionist was apparently also tne bartender so whilst we waited we leant over and had a look at the bar menu on the wall, to see what was on offer. Then she came to serve us. My husband ordered beer and I ordered vodka and tonic. She said Schweppes, and I said yes that would be fine. I went and sat down whilst my husband waited for the drinks. His beer was fine but she only had a glass and the tonic, so my husband asked where the vodka was. She said she only heard Schweppes, so we said fine but we wanted vodka, she replied they didn't stock vodka. OK I said I'll have a glass of white wine, she replied they didn't have that either! I pointed out that wine by the glass was advertised on tne bar menu, but she said you have to go upstairs to the restaurant, 3rd floor to get a glass of wine!
Then she went of flustered again because 1 customer had appeared at the recption. When she came back she said don't you want anything, to which I replied yes I wanted 2 drinks and you don't have either! My husband gulped down his beer and we went up to the restaurant for dinner...and I did eventually get some wine! However, it was clearly just a restaurant not a bar and restaurant.
As for the hotel itself, it was nearly empty but despite that they still placed us right next to the elevator, and so with an airport hotel we were kept awake most of the night with guests arriving and departing.
We made the above points in an online survey sent by the hotel. The manager fired back a quick email no apology, saying they never advertised a shuttle bus, (which not only did we see but was advertised in room information), mind you it was a bit of a rust bucket! And reminded us that they were a 3 Star hotel, so we should be satisfied with our lot basically! less
