12th – 13th August 2017

The International Bognor Birdman is a competition for human powered flying machines held each summer in the picturesque seaside resort of Bognor Regis. Many fliers take part to raise money for charities, others design complex machines to aim for the prizes on offer. The Best Western Beachcroft Hotel is within walking distance from the hilarious spectacle and also close to the picturesque Sussex towns of Chichester and Arundel.

Bog Snorkelling, Llanwrtyd Wells

The World Bog Snorkelling Championships in Llanwrtyd Wells takes place at Waen Rhydd bog. A random sport that’s become a serious competition with competitors from across the world taking part. With food stalls, crafts, live music and a real ale bar on site, it's a great day out even for those who don’t fancy taking the plunge. 28th August 2017

Without a doubt this is one of the world’s craziest culinary competitions. Contestants raise sponsorship money and partake in a wild and whacky wrestling competition in a pool full of Lancashire Gravy. World Black Pudding Throwing Championships
10th September 2017

The annual World Black Pudding Throwing Championships sees competitors hurl the Bury delicacy at a dozen Yorkshire puddings piled on a 20ft plinth to see who can knock the most down - with underarm throws only. Great Gorilla Run
16th September 2017

Now in its 15th year, the Great Gorilla run aims to raise awareness of the plight of gorillas and thousands of runners will walk, jog and run the 8km route in their best monkey suits across the City of London.
