Animal Magic At Longleat

Longleat’s historical house and grounds is a great place to visit for animal lovers everywhere.

Just a short drive away from Bath, Longleat is an oasis of greenery and nature, with 900 acres of amazing scenery designed by Capability Brown – the godfather of landscape gardening and a world-famous name in Victorian times.

But, of course, Longleat is most famous for being a Safari and Adventure Park that offers the chance to meet over 500 animals: domestic and exotic.

The main attraction at the Park is the exciting safari ride. This is an unforgettable journey where you’ll be accompanied by a huge menagerie of creatures of every shape, size and description. You’ll also see them in a more natural habitat than can be offered by a traditional zoo.

Lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes and elephants parade alongside deer and gorillas. If you’re a fish or insect fan, then you’ll also be well catered for with some fascinating opportunities to meet creatures you’d only normally encounter in a David Attenborough documentary.

For the most adventurous, there’s the VIP tour in a 4x4 for an exhilarating off the road experience.

Throughout the year, Longleat hosts a variety of great events and exhibitions. Christmas is a particularly exciting time to visit with its beautiful display of Chinese lanterns.

Explore Longleat House

Once you’ve met all the animals, why not explore Longleat House? Built over 450 years ago, it’s one of the best examples of an Elizabethan house in the country. You can wander around many of the rooms (the family still lives there) and look back to a world of masters and servants. Beautiful art is featured throughout the house.

The area around Longleat

Delightful English countryside surrounds the Longleat estate as well as interesting places to visit. Beautiful Bath is only a car ride away, where you can explore Roman ruins, enjoy an amazing spa experience or eat in one of the many superb restaurants in the city. You can also access trendy Bristol, a historic city with plenty to see and do and lots of quirky shops and eateries to explore.
