3 of us stayed at The Pavilion for 3 nights for a work’s reunion (25 years since we all left the same company) and we all felt that the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. It’s a 30 minute walk into the centre of York, and if you don’t fancy the main round, you can always walk along the river instead.
Breakfast was a buffet, with the usual cooked items, which on each day meant we didn’t need to eat again until the evening.
We had the odd sherbet in the hotel bar or sitting outside on the patio area, and also, on the first night, 2 of us ate in the restaurant. Both the food (roast vegetables and terrine to start, both followed by the Belly Pork (with very tasty mash)) were very good, as was the service.
The hotel has the odd sign up saying they are a bit short staffed at the moment, so please be patient; however, I didn’t notice that or any lack of service in any area of the hotel, either at reception, in the bar or in the restaurant. All the staff was helpful and very friendly.
So overall, we all enjoyed our stay, and found everything to be more than fine. less
