We arrived early evening and stayed one night in a jacuzzi room. We took our evening meal in the a la carte restaurant and our breakfast in the self service oak restaurant.
In my opinion, the staff were on the whole good, if lacking a little training on table service; but the biggest problem was the maintenance of the hotel.
On arrival in our room, we were greeted with a soiled WC, obviously used and not flushed. There were a number of issues in the room including, a missing set of bathroom towels, no soaps or gels for the jacuzzi, peeling decoration from the bedroom walls in several places, a broken shower head, mould growth around window frames etc. There was no bottled water provided in the room and no mini bar in the room (although there was a disconnected empty mini fridge in the wardrobe!).
In all the charge for our one night stay was just shy of £370. In my view, for that level of charge, the standard of accommodation and service fell far short of the mark. I've stayed in many hotels and paid a fraction of that cost for better accommodation and service.
The hotel is, in my opinion, resting firmly on its laurels and if owners do not take action soon the hotel will lose any reputation it might of once had. I certainly would need persuading to return in the near future for business or pleasure.
