Just got back from an overnight stay here. Paid £90 (in total) for the 'Fantastic Friday' offer - overnight stay in standard double, 2 course dinner in restaurant, breakfast, use of facilities and 10% off pre booked treatments.
The room was nice and clean, comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities, new bathroom, again clean, nice fluffy towels, new tv with BT sport in each room.
The room was very cold when we got in, took a a couple of hours to warm up with the radiator (it was an old one).
I had an Indian head massage which was so amazing, it was very relaxing, the oils were lovely and it left my hair so soft and silky. My other half had a back, neck and shoulder massage, he said how nice it was too. We had a drink in the relaxation room after which was also so lovely, great calming atmosphere and soooo comfy! I could have fell to sleep. If you are staying, if you have time to have a treatment you should!
The food was nice, we ordered a bottle of Rose, which was warm when we got it, but they put it in a ice bucket, but thought it should have been in the fridge before. The food was lovely, but we were left waiting. We waited 30 minutes for two slices of bread and olive oil, then after 50 minutes in total we were given our main, i was so hungry by this time as our table was booked for 8 but again the food was great, we waited around 25 minutes for pudding, which was lovely. The waiting was long baring in mind there was only around 10 other people in. The area is a little old fashioned with the tables, etc.
Breakfast was great, nice selection, piping hot, so yummy! Really enjoyed it.
The only downside to this hotel is the pool and jacuzzi. It was absolutely freezing. I have read other reviews saying the same with the management commenting saying the heat is 30 so it's fine - but surley if we are using it and saying how cold it is, just turn it up? Unless it's really broken or something. But c'mon lets face it, I was sat in there with goose bumps, I had to cut it short and get out it was that cold. People were going from the steam room to the jacuzzi to cool down it was that cool. Not relaxing.
I've got to admit for the money it was good, if I didn't book the treatments I would have been so disappointed with the spa as we only stayed 30 minutes it was just too cold. The room was cold too, you couldn't lie on the beds either as they were right next to the window and the room temp was cold. I was shivering.
If I booked a spa day here to use the leisure facilities I would have been gutted, it is quite run down as well as cold - have i mentioned how cold it was 🙊. But as it was an overnight stay, the room was good, the food was too and of course Fretwell Beauty - they were absolutely amazing (definitely the highlight)!
I would not go back for a spa/leisure day but I would for the break, if I had paid more than £90 for us both - I wouldn't have been too impressed.
