We stayed here with my family 2adults / 2 children (7 &10) on 14-12-2019
Good size free car park so parking no issue
Lovely warm reception on arrival very prompt quick check-in.
Reception area was tastfully decorated and a luxury feel to the place
Quite a large hotel and an old building that is extremely well maintained from painting to carpets to furniture etc.
Our room was lovely and extremely tastefully decorated - we stayed in a family room at the rear of the hotel so the view needed some imagination of course - after some Gins in the bar it was spot on .... The children had there own twin room with large flat-screen TV, heating, luxury bedding / scatter cushions. The main room was excellent and were well furnished from quality chrome fittings to modern sumptuous bedding and throws very warm with a self controlled modern powerful wall heating system.
We went done to the bar for drinks and was impressed with a "book style drinks menu" with choice of Gins, Rums, Vodkas etc. We did try 3 of the gins - superb, Lovely seating, service and food from the restaurant looked very good however we did dine out for dinner. The room filled with a works party and soon was full however the "entertainments/events manager" was very pleasant and said we did not have to leave and offered us another place to sit - The service just gets better !
Upon returning the car park was full (as large works Chirstmas party) but plenty of parking on the promenade, just be aware traffic wardens are about and control the area so 2 hours parking only.
No noise at night, what so ever despite a evening event on.
Shower was a trickle so maybe some new power heads that increase the pressure a little more. Bathroom was fine and well maintained.
Breakfast a good set up with self service bean to cup coffee machines. Lovely selection of fruit / cheese / meats. Hot food was freshly prepared and waiter service.
We were served by a Scottish gentlemen whom i believe was called "Jim" who was a real character and had genuine banter and knew how to treat customers, we had great fun and wow did he nail customer service. Breakfast was lovely, fresh, and well presented. We found a games room with pool table, large style connect 4, Upon leaving my son accidentally walked out with a glass from the bar, as I realised so had Jim who lets says made me cry with laughter as he tried to ban me from the hotel. Service above and beyond !
A few plus points was lovely to see our four legged friends allowed in the bar area, room service was available, Also some superb 3/4 day packages i read over Christmas and the New Year period.
What can I say a superbly operated hotel, well maintained old building with a classy decor and well appointed rooms and public areas and a team of staff that offer true old fashioned warm genuine service ! would we return - 100% we would. Ignore the silly 1 star reviews on here especially "The don't answer the phone" just call back in 5 mins (they also have a answerphone message facility so i feel a lie from that review.
Again credit to ALL the team who are part of this superb establishment as I travel with my job and stay in many hotels and The Glendower Hotel you need to pat your selves on the back as - Superb !. less
