This hotel does have some grotty aspects to it, especially the stair carpet, which is dirty and worn. The room was freshly enough painted, but by someone who doesn't know how to cut into edges or tidy their work. For example, the (adhesive?) residue smarmed over the faux-chrome fittings in the bathroom. The cheap imitation-wood flooring creaks loudly, in your own room and others.
The feature I did really like was the size of the window, which goes all alongside the bed. It was sunny that weekend, and so the room felt very bright. The view across the town to the countryside was delightful. Swifts zipped about, whistling away happily--one of my favourite sounds. And, to be fair, the room was impeccably clean. The shower was a good one, always a relief. Staff on the desk were friendly and helpful. less

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us. We have a variety of different sized rooms, being an old coaching inn, and the room you were in (a small double) has the best view out over the town. We are pleased that you found the room clean, and the shower good, and that the staff were friendly and helpful. The stair carpet is being replaced this month, along with continued decoration and room improvements. We are pleased that you enjoyed the swifts flying by, and hope that you enjoyed the Dorset Countryside and Jurassic Coast. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
