I agree with a lot of the positive reviews - good location, friendly helpful staff, nice breakfasts. But, on our 2 night stay we did have some issues: Parking is problematic - only around 6 cars fit in the car park so other parking (reimbursable) must be found. Our first room (executive) was above a local gym and the throbbing music noise from below was unbearable. Fortunately, on our return from eating out, the kind receptionist upgraded us to a suite which was quieter but, oddly in our view, was not such a nice room. (Smaller main bedroom, less lighting options, smaller bed. We both found the bed too hard and slept poorly - hard beds are very common in hotels! And finally, the bathroom was quite chilly, even with the towel rail heater on. This makes the hotel sound bad but in reality it is just a quirky period property with no double glazing and the other features of such hotels. We did not dine in the hotel. I have nonetheless given four stars. less

Thank you for taking the time to rate the Wessex Royale Hotel so highly. Sorry about you having to change rooms. Your comments about the suite have been noted. We do have limited free parking onsite, there is a pay and display car park less than two minutes away and your parking ticket cost will be reimbursed. Great to see you enjoyed the central location of the hotel.
