I've usually stayed in Holiday Inns but being a diamond member of BW I thought I would give this a go. Excellent location for access to the tube (I'm working in the city centre, so only a couple of stops), but the hotel stay was let down by only 2 things. The first, being a 2am fire alarm - NOT something I blame the hotel for, as idiots are beyond their control. The second being the bar, or lack thereof. Unfortunately on the menu there are several options, whereas at the bar itself, most of those options are none existant. I appreciate keeping stock is difficult, especially as until it is sold, it is dead money, but if you're not offering what you have on the menu because of it, remove it from the menu.
The area around the bar is very relaxing, inoffensive music in the background (as opposed to being blasted down your ear!) and comfortable seating.
I've been over the way to Ye Olde Swiss Cottage, which was good and well within pleasant walking distance of the hotel.
The room I have this time is a superior one, and indeed it is much bigger than the one I stayed in previously. Very comfortable bed, pleasant furnishings, perfect after a day at the office.
I've found all the staff I have dealt with here to be very professional, very helpful and very attentive. The staff alone would be enough to award the hotel a 5. As I said above, it is only really let down by the selection in the bar. There are other places to go, I appreciate this, but sometimes you just want to relax somewhere that's close to your room. less
