My stay here was more by luck than judgement. I read some negative reviews for this Hotel, and while I always pay attention, I also judge them against the person writing them.
I was traveling on business and as this was a short notice trip had originally opted for the BW Tiverton Hotel, being as they offered a better price. Had they not been so intransigent on room rates which were grossly inflated for a Monday night, I would have missed this lovely Hotel.
My arrival was handled smoothly, my room was newly decorated, beautifully prepared with plenty of space and towels. I had a great nights sleep in a comfy bed and woke to a magnificent view (albeit over the the car park and garden which can't be helped) to the glorious West Country fields and hedges. I had read about road noise here but have to say that only my alarm woke me at 07.00, which in the West Country is quite late with all the agriculture moving around.
Breakfast was excellent, all locally sourced, sweet bacon, tasty sausages and great fried bread. My only criticism here would be the kitchen left to much water on my plate from the poached eggs, and I would have preferred fresh mushrooms not tinned.
The building is old, and I like this as it has loads of character, beautifully carved stone mullions and wonderful old solid wooden staircases, polished floors and brass fittings etc.
This is one business trip I hope to repeat. less
