This hotel is very central, in a street with only historical buildings. My room was no. 307. The historical experience started with getting to the room with a heavy suitcase. Because the building is old, there was only one, slow lift, also used by the staff, and which stopped only between floors.
The room started with a long corridor (photo). The shower room was small but well designed (photo). It had no drying line. The luggage storage area unusually good, and the bed was comfortable (photos). There was a bedside clock. The air conditioning was easy to work, as long as you found the instructions in the Guest Directory. There was an adequate supply of electrical sockets. The TV was OK. The Wi-Fi was easy to access, but signal was weak, and service ended just after 23:00 on the night before my departure; there was no problem getting a new code, but the code print-outs were very faint.
The view from the window was of an ochre shaft (photo), part of the charm of an older building, but it did mean the room was quiet.
The Breakfast Room was very small, but the buffet was good – this was the first European hotel I have stayed in where the breakfast buffet included dried dates and a juicer with fresh oranges.
The staff were friendly and helpful. less
