Our three night stay at the Best Western Royal Sun Inn & Suites in Tucson, AZ was good. I'll break it down into positives and negatives. Positives: 1.) Excellent staff was always checking to see if everything was ok. 2.) Complimentary breakfast was outstanding, since it was cooked to order in their restaurant and the menu had lots and lots of selections and options. 3.) Internet was both hard wired (LAN) and WiFi and both were fast and stable. 4.) Tons of channels to watch on a good sized TV. 5.) Mini fridge to store your drinks and keep them cold. 6.) Good sized walk-in shower with excellent water pressure and adjustable nozzle. 7.) Adjustable thermostat with central AC/Heating, instead of those loud "window" units. 8.) Pool was big and clean. So was the hot tub. Negatives: 1.) Hotel is very close to the train tracks and of course, the train blares its horn at about 2 or 4 AM! Can't blame the hotel for this, but it is what it is. Folks just need to know to expect this. Hotel does provide ear plugs, which were already present in the room. So, it's a known fact. 2.) The plastic pan in the walk-in shower was really dirty and stained. Someone needs to go in there with some powder cleanser and a good stiff brush and clean that shower floor! 3.) Many of the white towels had various stains on them. They should either do a better job of laundering their towels or if they can't come out clean, they should throw them out or use them as rags! Don't give your guests dirty towels! Quality control! 4.) Bed sheets had stains on them. Again, do a better job of laundering your bed sheets and have better quality control to make sure only clean bed sheets are being fitted onto the beds! 5.) Lipstick stains on the blanket. 6.) If staying on the 1st floor, you will hear steps, stomps, creaking from the floor above you, if that room is occupied. So, make sure to get a 2nd floor room and step lightly to give your downstairs neighbor a break. Again, this is just the nature of this old hotel and it is what it is. So, there you have it. Our experience with this hotel and the positives and negatives. I thought that being right across from the park that was loaded with homeless people might cause issues, but they didn't come onto the property and we really didn't have any sketchy people loitering about the hotel. So, that was a relief. The property is very nice and has lots of nice touches. It's just old and is close to the train tracks. less
