A warm and inviting entrance and lobby to the hotel. We found the staff welcoming, friendly and very helpful; nothing was too much trouble at the reception desk. Though the hotel is situated back in the town some 15 mins walk to Liberation Square, this did not prove to be a problem and offered easy access to the main shopping area.
The dinning room is attractive even though it is divided into separate areas. The food is excellent and extremely well presented, but this high standard is not supported by the dinning room staff who appear not to be focused and co-ordinated; food being served before the ordered wine, very long delays between courses when later dinner guest are being served prior to you.
A good selection of hot and cold breakfast food, but with the downside that cold plates were on offer at the buffet hot counter – cold plates for hot food is not what one expects.
Though we enjoyed our stay we were very disappointed with our twin room, which did not match the hotel’s web site picture of a standard twin room. We did not complain or request a move. But should we return to the Royal Hotel again it will be a case of once bitten, twice shy !
Having said that the room was in a quiet location as it overlooked the rear court yard, it was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable.
BAR 27, the hotels bar area offered a slightly different character and environment to that of the hotel. We found the service offered by the bar staff to be very friendly, with excellent value of both drinks and available bar food.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel, though our experienced was marred by a very disappointing room.. less
