This is an update of an earlier review where I explained that no matter how good some features of a hotel may be, when you’re standing in front of a bathroom sink looking to simply wash your hands and all you can get out of the faucet is far far far from what you need, you got to believe something’s wrong and you end up astonished when told that’s just part of their water saving system, so next time we visit Rockland I said we’ll help BW save even more water by staying elsewhere! Since these initial comments were quickly made my first day there, I thought it might help to provide an update for anyone considering staying at Best Western Rockland, especially in light of the general manager’s reply to that earlier review, asking what could possibly be wrong with such a water conservation measure? Well, over the 3 days we stayed at the Best Western Rockland every time I washed my hands or rinsed off my tooth brush it felt needlessly frustrating but, given the lack of water flow and resulting difficulty I figured I’d have rinsing off my razor, I didn’t even try shaving! And the water flow was actually only one of the problems: while our room included a king size bed, essential parts of the bathroom seemed to be sized more for a midget. And that includes not only the sink but the toilet as well: I don’t believe I’ve ever sat on so small and low a toilet and as I’m not that big I find it hard to imagine how anyone, say, over 6 feet or 200 pounds would ever fare on such a seat! Further, there was some rust around the bathtub. And at the same time, another hotel feature I found disappointing (which I guess the general manager might also consider a conservation measure) is how the hallway we walked each morning to breakfast (as well as in and out of the hotel every time) was not heated even with outside morning temperatures only in the 40s. And for those not as lucky as us to be on the first floor, kindly note this 2-story hotel does not have an elevator. less
