We stayed here last year in the midst of remodeling. We are former residents of Simi Valley and know the hotel well and understood that things would not be perfect, but expected a decent room. We did not get that. An example: There was a hole in the wall filled with a rag or paper towels. That was just one of the issues. After nearly begging, we received 1/2 of our money back (this is not a cheap motel).
So, now the remodel is done. At least there are no signs of continued remodel. We decided to give it another try. What a disappointment. The room was old and had NOT been remodeled. The fiberglass bathtub insert had been painted over and there were chips, scratches and missing paint throughout the tub and walls. All corners of the bathroom had dirt build up. There was caulking all around the ceiling of the shower and it was all cracked. The closet doors had water damage. The refrigerator almost fell out of it's shelving and onto my foot. There were inkmarks on the sheets (we didn't notice this until morning or we would have had staff change them), the blanket was so old and scratchy that the tag was literally threadbare from so many washings (hey, at least they washed them!) The door had about a 1/4 " gap and was filthy. There was some kind of bug guts or something on the blackout curtain. The mirror by the closet had handprints on it. The best part was when we noticed our ice bucket had no liner and still had water in it (from the previous occupants?) and when my husband took it up to the front desk, they kept it and handed him a large trash bag to get ice. Can you imagine?
We didn't bother complaining to the staff after that move. The thought of contacting the manager again after the nightmare of trying to get any kind of refund last time is just overwhelming.
You are better off staying at a far less expensive hotel. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why this is rated #1 in Simi on TripAdvisor. If you do stay, avoid room 110. less

Well, I can certainly see how frustrating the stay must have been for you, and I want to thank you for bringing these issues to light. Please be assured that your complaints have been addressed and proper action has been taken. We are just very sorry you found nothing to enjoy. Improvement is on-going and when we received your message, problems had already been well corrected. I hope you will give us another chance, because, frankly, we are constantly in renovation and improvement mode and I’m sure your next visit will be delightful.
