Second stay here with my husband. We stayed in a King Suite both times - the room is good sized - separate bedroom/living area with tv's in both. They also have purified water available near the ice machine which I like. We didn't swim this time. The hotel has character and charm for sure, but if modern interior decor means a lot to you, this is probably not your hotel. That said, the bar/restaurant are remodeled very nicely. The beds were uncomfortable both stays. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Both times we've eaten in the restaurant part or all of our order has been forgotten, and we've either eaten apps after dinner, or waited a long time for dinner. They comped something both times, but I'd rather have my food on time. The restaurant was not busy either time, so that wasn't the reason, though it's possible we've caught them on off nights both times. In particular, the front desk staff did not meet my expectations. They were not knowledgeable regarding Best Western Rewards, which doesn't matter to most I imagine, but does indicate, from my perspective, that there is something missing there. I wouldn't describe them as rude, per se, but they were not friendly, and I had to go out of my way to get a smile. I expect more when it comes to service. Also, the rate I was charged was more than the rate at which I booked the room. I haven't bothered following up, so I have a part in that, but I would say I'm annoyed that I have to follow up. I'm especially frustrated by it because when I checked in I pointed out to the front desk staff that the rate was wrong on the check in paperwork she had me sign, and she reassured me that there was a deposit fee accounted in the rate which would be removed upon check out. The charge on my credit card was more than the rate I booked the room at. I'd probably stay again if I could get a very low rate, but likely only if I couldn't find a comparable rate elsewhere, and not until after I had confirmed with management ahead of time that I'd be charged the rate I was quoted. less
