The hotel is around 6 miles West of Doncaster but is nicer than most hotels in Doncaster. The newish building you first see at the roadside , is actually Pastures family pub. Behind it is a large car park and at the back of the car park is the stand alone hotel. Looks new from outside but from the inside I guess it is probably about 10 years old. Reception is large and open and check in was fine. My first impression of the room was that it was a bit dark due to all the dark wood and a relatively small window. Apart from that it was fine, with a internet connected Smart TV, which is unusual.
In the hotel is a small bar and a restaurant, or you can walk across the car park to the pub. It's not really a pub, more of a family cafe, with 95% of tables laid out for eating. Kids running around. etc . Very similar to a big chain pub.
Prices in the hotel and the pub are actually similar but probably from the typical chain pub menu you would get more calories for your money from that. I enjoyed the home made fish pie in the restaurant, although it was quite a long wait for it to arrive.
A canal/navigable river runs behind the hotel and there is access via a gate, if you fancy a pleasant stroll .
Single rooms or single occupancy of a double is cheaper than the standard B&B rate. if you are travelling alone .
So nothing spectacular but no real negatives and it provides a comfortable room with a choice of eating and drinking facilities/ Lots of parking and chance for a walk by the canal. less
