Set back from the Main Road (although it is a very quiet main road) in the village of Meriden (halfway between Birmingham & Coventry), this hotel has a very impressive frontage with plenty of complimentary parking.
The lobby is nicely appointed (as all of the downstairs public areas are). Very helpful front desk staff.
I think that the hotel has 2 bars, the Triumph and the MPW restaurant bar. Only the MPW bar was open. But again it was tastefully decorated and where breakfast was served. Service in the MPW bar was a little lacking at times, but was probably due to Covid restrictions and the number of guests. Acceptable.
The rooms are OK. They are a little dated, but certainly not unpleasant. Usual amenities, hair dryer, iron & board. TV - but oddly enough no remote. I wasn't there to watch TV so was bothered. I assume Reception would have quickly sorted that out if needed. Bathroom was great.
One issue, it was possibly the hottest day of the year, and no air-con. A fan was supplied which did provide some cool air, so provided some relief. Bed was comfortable with excellent pillows.
Breakfast in the morning was self-service buffet style. I think the MD said it was the first time they had gone back to that since that last round of Covid restrictions. But the experience was smooth and trouble free. Food quality was excellent.
Checkout - no issues. Again friendly and efficient front desk staff.
Overall, a very pleasant stay in a nice hotel in a quaint location. less
