We just got back home from an unplanned trip to Bloomington. After reading reviews, we picked Best Western Plus because of the pools. I called to make the reservation after attempting online and not having any success. The reservation process was simple, and the staff was friendly. When we arrived, check in was quick, and again, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We found the room to be clean, though a few spots throughout the room are showing wear. The toilet and faucet are also placed weird, which is a strange OCD thing of mine. Paint was also bubbling on the wall next to the shower, which didn't affect our stay, but something that I noticed. After checking in, we walked to the pool, which was PACKED. We decided instead to walk to the Mall of America, which took about 5 minutes. It was a nice walk after a couple hours driving! This hotel is in a great location. Upon arriving back to the hotel, there were still people out and about, but it was quiet in our room, and we found the beds comfortable. We used the pull out couch, and found it to be full of popcorn, but brushed it off, and it wasn't really an issue. We did have to ask for some bedding for the pull out, and decided to walk to the front desk instead of call. The staff at the front were very friendly again, and the gentleman who took our request was very festive with his New Year's hat, and we enjoyed talking with him. He brought us bedding shortly after we spoke with him. In the morning, we ate the continental breakfast, which was mostly good. My family enjoyed the waffles with whipped cream and chocolate chips. They weren't "make your own", but it was very busy and it made sense that they were premade. The eggs were not very good, but tasted like a powdered variety, which I'm not fond of, so others may not mind them. The hash browns had a bit too much pepper, but were still ok. After breakfast, we headed to the pool, and were disappointed with how cold the pool was. The hot tub was warm, but could have been warmer. We are used to swimming in cold water, but for some reason the water just seemed to get colder as we swam instead of us getting used to the temp. It was also hard for me to watch the 20 or so children running around with no supervision. They were well behaved, but it made me nervous to see them without an adult. Other than the cold pool (and even with the cold pool), we enjoyed our stay here. less
