The hotel is quietly situated amongst private houses with a large car park . The hotel does not have a lift something I hadn't realised before checking in but we had a room on the ground floor. The reception area, lounge and dining room are well decorated and furnished but that's where it stops the rest of the hotel,is scruffy run down and generally not very nice . Our room was tiny and I mean tiny , a land locked bathroom and a window that overlooked the beer garden which let in noise and smoke. The room was however very clean and the bed very very comfortable, there were tea and coffee making facilities , well stocked but no bottled water , it was very warm when we were staying but the plug in fan did the job. The swimming pool area is very scruffy , the pool is small and the jacuzzi was out of order . The pool itself was clean and at a temperature that suited us , the hydrotherapy pool although shabby and rusty was great and the best thing of the whole visit.
We went to the bar for a drink before going out and when the bar staff were asked for a Bloody Mary we were met with blank stairs and had to advise on how to make it !!! The enclosed garden area was pleasant and suited us enjoying the last of the evening sun watching the birds nesting before going out.
We did not eat at the hotel in the evening but did have breakfast. The breakfast was buffet style and was constantly replenished, the breakfast was the second most enjoyable experience was well cooked and also a wide variety of cereal, fruit etc etc
The hotel really needs to tidy itself up we were quite surprised that it is a Best Western as it really didn't match the standards we have become used to , ending on a positive note ALL the staff were very welcoming ,friendly and professional and a real credit to the owner. less

Thank you for your review.
The hotel is Three star standard and more than surpassed the standards required so sorry to hear your comments.
We also passed easily Best Western standards on their recent inspection.
Being a family run hotel we don't have the funds of group hotels and have to find funds from our profits.
The lobby have just been redecorated and grateful for your positive comments.
Rooms we are working on and 32 of the 55 rooms now have new carpets the others will be completed by the end of this month. We will then be introducing new furniture to all rooms, not bad for a family run high occupancy hotel!!
In August we close the leisure club again for deep cleaning and repair work difficult to do as we have in excess of 650 members who like their club open.
Thanks again for your feedback.
