Accommodation is thin on the ground in this part of Melbourne so we were pleased to find this Best Western just five minutes away from a wedding we were attending in Mernda.
As we arrived and the "Under New Management" signs were proudly displayed, it was clear that there were some early stage issues to be ironed out. The new managers were friendly and trying to be helpful but their language skills are challenging both over the phone and in person.
Our room (number 2) was large, modern and very clean. It was very heavily drenched in disinfectant though and the smell was awful, we opened up every window and door to let some fresh air through and that helped a lot. A little patio with seating was pleasant and the fixtures and fittings were basic but modern and functional. The small kitchenette was a handy inclusion for us, especially the fridge.
The motel is easy to find off Plenty Road (just turn at Maccas) and was quiet through the night. There is ample parking which is right outside the rooms in typical motel style so expect to be woken early as people get up and go.
Overall, we had a comfortable overnight stay at this motel and no doubt the new management will work hard to keep guests happy as they learn the ropes here. less
