$140 for a room with a broken toilet? Sorry. Nope.
I got into Mesquite at 2 AM. I was tired, sore, and dirty. I had a booking here.
So I get to the front desk and check in. The desk clerk is carrying on two conversations at once. One is with me, and the other is with her Bluetooth earpiece, the way taxi drivers do. She was young and I guess she didn't know any better. She gives me a room on the opposite side of the building. (It's one of those motels with all-exterior doors.)
I get to my upper-storey room, which was clean and quiet. The first thing I notice is the toilet is running continuously-- they must have wasted many gallons of water with this. I try to flush it, and nothing really happens. OK, a non-flushing toilet.
So I phone down, and I ask for another room. 'Sorry. We're full. I can't move you anywhere else. I can give you a 50% discount on the room, but if you need to, you can use the restroom down here.' This, I might add, would have been about a 150 yard walk. So I say, OK.
So I tinker with the toilet, and I can make it sort-of flush. I phone the kid back, and I say forget the discount. But in the morning, I had to blow my nose, and it would not even flush the toilet paper. If I need the toilet for anything serious, I could have flushed it with a bucket of water, but I didn't have a bucket.
Now, here's the thing. Was it a big coincidence that the very last person to check in gets the room with a broken toilet? I really, really doubt that. They knew, and they were trying to see what they could get away with. There was no excuse for this. There is no way the cleaning staff could have failed to notice this, and they would have reported it.
Mattress was good, and the room was otherwise fine. Breakfast was good-- the usual mid-range motel stuff, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, breads, muffins, yogurts, juice and coffee. Those things are, incidentally, why I rate this a '2' instead of a '1'.
In the morning I went to check out. The desk clerk is on the phone, except this time it's a business call. She processes my receipt and hands it to me while she's talking on the phone. Didn't ask me 'How was your stay?' Because I would have told her.
I won't be back. less

First My Most Sincere Apology to you for your experience if this was our property at fault.
I Know that This Past Week was VERY BUSY NASCAR RACES & We were SOLD OUT for 3 Months Prior and Most Likely had NO ALTERNATIVE ROOMS to Move you in this unfortunate circumstance, however I am glad that a 50% discount was offered but this in No Way Excuses a staff Member being on a personal Device While On working Hours & Could've explained the unfortunate situation a little more Tactful & professional.
We will use this as a Learning tool as we are all capable of doing better & being better and if this was your perception of our Hotel , "I am Truly sorry & I hope that we could be given the opportunity to make this right in the future with you ." as you can tell by numerous Reviews by Numerous guests that this is not the Norm .
I appreciate you & Your Business .
Again my Warmest apologies & Regards!
