Dining and Bars

Head Chef Iain Young worked at the Best Western Kings Manor Hotel Edinburgh as a young chef before moving on to several prestigious establishments, including Gleneagles. His love of the Best Western and the Lauders restaurant has seen him return 'home', and bring his own eclectic style with him.

Lauders Restaurant

Tradition with a twist is our speciality at the Launders restaurant, as an Asian spin can be noticed on many dishes. Laksa - a Malay spiced broth, tandoori salmon and a chickpea and dhal curry all come highly recommend. The dining room itself is bright and airy, with a contemporary design and cherry wood panelling. Vegetarians are also well catered for with some refreshing alternatives to the usual options.

Weddings

Our wedding reception venue is licensed to hold civil ceremonies for both marriages and civil partnerships, so we really can take care of your entire big day from start to finish. Our flexible approach means you can put your own stamp on the celebrations without sticking to an off-the-shelf solution.

Wedding service and reception venue

Our new function suite can accommodate over 120 guests for a wedding. We also boast smaller rooms that accommodate intimate parties of 10 to 30 people, as we're proud to be a wedding venue in Edinburgh thats as flexible as it is stunning. The DJ of our resident disco will gladly take requests, or we can advise on live bands and even pipers if you prefer.

Catering

We make things as easy possible when it comes to your catering. Our self- select banqueting package means you can choose how many courses you fancy, and which dishes you want us to serve. Alternatively, you can choose from our set celebration menus or celebration buffet menus if you need a little guidance. A drinks and decorations package can be purchased to ensure the champagne is flowing and the venue looks great.

Honeymoon Suite

We have a large (and rather stunning) four poster room with views stretching down the coast, for the perfect night's rest to end your special day. If you prefer, we have a number of more contemporary club rooms with king sized beds. No matter how you choose to spend your night, we will be more than accommodating.

Thank you for posting your comments ion yet another review site. As i have previously pointed out in other media and was explained to you on your arrival. We did not have a record of your preferred room layout. Booking.com bookings had just changed their routing of their bookings to us a week before your bookiing. It was only after your booking we realized that some types of messages, such as room set up, was not being transferred correctly to us. We set the room up with 3 beds as we considered that the least worst scenario. In the past where these set up has not been known, guests have slept in that set up allowing us to set the room to your preference in the morning. However at 11.45 our duty manager our senior night porter and our receptionist stripped and remade the beds for you as you requested. Our standard single beds as 'zip and link' beds that we use are 2 metres long by 1 metre wide. They link the bases together and zip the mattresses together to give a very comfortable 2 metre by 2 metre king sized double. I do agree that some guests find sleeping on the 5cm area where the zip lies to be uncomfortable, despite it being padded by the mattress protector and linen sheets, but I would suggest that there is somewhere else in the remaining 1.95cm that would sure have been comfortable for you. Our third beds we use in these rooms usually sits underneath the other two beds . This is a standard imperial sized mattress 6 foot 3 inches by 3 foot . It is slightly smaller - 9 cm wide and 9 cm long but has the same 25cm thick mattress. It is a full sized adult bed , designed for adults and should not be 'short' for anyone under 6 foot 3 inches - 192cm . The few double beds we have in the hotel are queen sized doubles 1.8m wide , we do not have any rooms that are suitable for 3 people with the smaller queen sized beds. It is my understanding that you would move to a queen sized bed room the next day , but as we could not offer a queen sized bed and a metric single bed you did not want to move. I was not aware before your latest review here that you had found fault with the bathroom. None of my colleagues who were attending to your needs that night or in the morning had not reported this. I am sorry that you found fault there as well.

I am sorry that did not get you your bed configuration requirements correct initially. I think you will find that your 'bar bill included meals on Friday on Friday night and additional breakfasts.
