Overall this hotel is good value for money. The public areas are traditionally decorated to a good standard and the food in the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. It also has nice views out towards the River Tay. The buffet breakfast is decent with hot and cold options. Only negative on the food front is that the restaurant closes at 9pm. That seems a bit early and a little silly considering you are a couple of miles away from the city centre. It’s fair to say that people staying here, are likely to be eating here. I noticed more than a few people turned away only a few minutes after 9. With all that said, the staff were great, providing local take away options/contact numbers etc. Staff on the whole were very accommodating and pleasant to deal with throughout our stay I have to say.
The room itself was clean and comfortable albeit the taste in decor is a little old fashioned/dated. The bathroom in particular looked like it could do with a bit of a makeover. I have stayed here before and the room was much better that time I have to say. It had a large walk in shower but this time around the shower was over the bath which looked a little on the old side, and the shower pressure wasn’t particularly strong.
Otherwise the room allowed for a decent nights sleep and had all the amenities required for an overnight stay.
I would probably stay here again if i managed to get a good enough deal, but I would also consider one of the many alternatives nearby, particularly given the restricted restaurant hours at the Invercarse. less
