We were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were able to check in and find our room. The room was beautifully furnished with a bathroom including bath and bidet. We even had a lovely balcony with a view of a flowering bougainvillea.
Hotel Rivoli is in a cull de sac in the northern part of Rome and is quiet.
When we arrived we had a late lunch at Nomad, a restaurant close to and associated with Hotel Rivoli
We stayed over Christmas and had not realised that Rome would be all but closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. With the help of the receptionist we found superb places for lunch on both days and within easy walking distance of the Hotel.
The buffet breakfast offered continental and scrambled eggs and bacon with a selection of fruit and cereals to start and even some chocolate cakes for those not on a diet. The coffee was really good.
The walls of the public areas had lots of interesting old paintings and murals. There were also several statues too.
Whenever we wanted to go somewhere, reception called a taxi which arrived very quickly. We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable cost of the taxis and that made the centre of the old city easily accessible which was lucky because the buses and trams seemed to be operating a reduced service because of Christmas.
All in all, Hotel Rivoli is a lovely place to stay. We enjoyed the Hotel, the City and the Food. We would love to be able to return to see more of the Eternal City. less
