We have had a miserable start to this year, so when Amazon offered an excellent deal on this hotel, we snapped it up.
We were greeted at Reception be a very pleasant lady, who asked if we wanted help with our luggage.
I am glad we accepted, as it was a trek (for us 80+ year olds) both to the lift, and from the lift to our room.
The room itself was very well furnished (though an easy chair would have been nice) and the beds comfortable. All amenities as you would expect, and plenty of hot water at all times.
There was free Wifi for those who had brought their laptops, ipads etc., I didn't, so opted to use the computer in reception - which turned out not to be compatible with my server, Hotmail. I was told an engineer would be called out to see to the problem, but it wasn't done while I was there. It was not a big deal, I only wanted to clear all the rubbish that accumulates each day, so that I would not have to come home (as I did this afternoon) to 168 emails, at least 2/3 of which I deleted immediately. It might have been for a business person, however?
Those are minor niggles.
We could get a complimentary bottle of still or sparkling water at any time from Reception, which I very much appreciated!
We booked to dine in the restaurant that evening and were bowled over by the quality and variety of the food offered. On the first evening we were even given a free bottle of the House Wine which was a very good Vin de Pays.
On each evening we dined very well. We were also very impressed by the restaurant staff, who seemed to miss nothing and to anticipate when someone needed help, or was ready for the next course. All were efficient and seemed to enjoy looking after us all. The Maitre de was great!
The Bar was a large comfortable area, with tables and upright chairs, and sofas for those who wanted more comfort.
The bar overlooked the pool, which seemed to be well used, and overseen.
We wished we had taken our swimsuits!
After the first evening we discovered a back car park, with an entrance door right near to 'our' lift, which halved our trek, and on the last day also halved the distance to drag the luggage (though once again we asked the young man for help.
My husband and I enjoyed our visit to this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our break in Dorset and would happily go back. less
