I must admit my very first impression was that the Rembrandt had seen better days, a bit like Weymouth itself. However, my experience of the hotel was consistently positive: comfortable bed, clean room, recently decorated bathroom, strong wi-fi signal, excellent breakfast, remarkably friendly and polite staff.
The location is about a 15 minute walk from what might be called the centre of Weymouth, or 2 stops on a No 2 or No 10 bus. It was easy to find by car and there is free and plentiful car-parking in front of the hotel.
I recommend getting a booking that includes breakfast as it's such good value. Staff see you to your table, provide coffee and toast, and you help yourself to wide-ranging buffet which has cereals, juices and plenty of cooked options.
Clientèle is varied: business people, young families and possibly a weighting towards older, holidaying couples. I expect the hotel handles some conferences and the like also.
There is a swimming pool and a bar, and the restaurant is busy in the evenings. The meal I had was reasonably-priced, nicely-presented and enjoyable.
So although the building and surroundings might be a bit tired, the staff seem to act as one to make the stay a happy and relaxing experience. less
