I stayed in this hotel for two nights as I was working in the area. The location in terms of the motorway is great and there is ample parking. The hotel itself is very dated and needs a refurb which I think is being done as the bar looks totally different to the rest of the place and there were workmen onsite. I arrived and checked in ok, the receptionist wasn't particularly chatty or friendly, she didn't tell me where my room was and I had to ask as it wasn't clear where any of the rooms were. I got to my room and found it to be stifling hot, leaving the windows open and the curtains closed during the day would have been a nice touch so the room wasn't so warm for when guests arrive. The room was adequate size, had a very small bathroom with no bath and the smallest sink I've ever seen in a bathroom. The shower was awful, just trickled out. The bed was a little hard but adequate for me as I prefer a firm mattress. The TV was huge and had all the usual channels etc.
I ate in the bar once and the food was adequate, service was good and staff friendly. I didn't have breakfast so cannot comment on that.
Check out was pretty much the same as check in, no chatting, despite my trying to get some sort of conversation going as I waited for my paperwork to fill the silence.
So would I stay again? Probably not and definitely not in the warmer months, the location on a busy road meant you couldn't leave the windows open at night for noise and the room was just too hot. Also as a frequent traveller I do like to be greeted with a smile and embark on some kind of conversation while I am checking in and out, even if it's just hello and how has your day been. less
