Well located hotel - close to Glasgow without actually being IN it. Pleasant building, pleasant village with shops and sufficient amenities. Hotel itself is well looked-after generally and the COVID stuff about no room services, no toiletries etc isn't so much of a pain that it ruins the guest experience.
All the staff we dealt with were great - friendly, helpful, nothing too much trouble. We asked the housekeeper for a change of towels and fresh ones were delivered, and the old ones removed, within 5 minutes.
Food in the restaurant was good-to-very good and again the staff excellent.
Only complaint was a bad case of water hammer (vibrating pipes) when the toilet cistern in our bathroom refilled. It takes a couple of minutes to fill, so we were regaled with this dreadful sound for that time. And so, of course, were the rooms around us. Reported it to reception within a hour of arrival (Saturday) and again on checking out (Wednesday) but it seemed to be news to the reception desk on the Wednesday. Hopefully they'll get it fixed, but meantime if you're offered room 30 (the one we had, with the fault) or room 29, and maybe even room 31 the other side, accept only if they've had a plumber fix the problem! less
