We booked a twin room for a Thursday night stay, hotel is great location wise being on a main road and only 10 mins into town for the shops, so we avoided trying to find somewhere to park all the time. There is a distinct lack of parking though for the amount of rooms, luckily the hotel shares another car park at the back, otherwise it would be a problem!
We were put into a separate building on the top floor (2nd), there isn't a lift here, so whilst we were able to do the stairs, it is worth knowing (as we weren't told until we checked out), that all twin rooms are on the top floors. The room was decent size, having the eves take up half the room, it made it feel smaller and l could only comfortably walk on one side of the room. My friends bed was comfortable, mine however wasn't, the springs were felt when you laid down and made it a bit uncomfortable, but for 1 night it was bearable. The shower cubicle was good and clean and the shower itself lovely and powerful, it was nice to have toiletries available, however we had brought our own. The only criticism would be no toilet brush available.
Breakfast choices were very good, various individual cereal boxes, fruit, pastries, porridge and cooked options, we both had full English and it was nice. Reception staff were friendly & helpful. I know the property is old although decoration is good, we probably wouldn't stay there again, had we been put into another room lower down, this review probably would've been more favourable. less
