My wife and I stayed at this hotel last year because it was only about 20 minutes away from the Michigan Renaissance Festival and had no issues, except that I thought it was a bit overpriced for the type of hotel and the amenities. We decided to stay here again this year and it was far from the same experience, with the exception of it still being overpriced. Upon check in, the two young ladies working at the front desk were not very friendly at all. We dealt with another front desk staff member a little while later and she was a bit friendlier. Now for the room...Hair from the previous guest in the tub, the phone did not work. When maintenance came to check it he informed me that it was a wiring problem in the wall. How is that something that is not checked? I’m sure the wiring didn’t just break just before we got there. I work for a very large property management company and this would not be tolerated. The door lock for the back entrance door did not lock, so anyone could just walk right in to the building anytime. Didn’t make my wife and I feel very secure. As far as breakfast goes, for the price being charged for the room, which was around $125, they should have served steak and eggs on the buffet. The food was mediocre. Scrambled eggs, sausages, etc. The make your own waffles were good though. Needless to say, after this experience, I don’t care if I have to stay an hour away from the Renaissance Festival, I will not stay here again. We stayed the next night at the Best Western in Birch Run and for around $75 for the night, it was a far better experience staying there than the Davison location. The one in Birch Run had much friendlier staff, better breakfast and a restaurant as well. Better workout room too. I would not recommend the Davison Inn at all!! less
