I booked & paid for a Deluxe Queen room & requested a room that didn’t face the main road. After I paid, I found my room was at the very front of a line of rooms that ran down the length of the property (away from the main road). So even though it wasn’t one of the 6 facing the road it was very close to being on the main road - my photos illustrate how close my room was to the front of the property. I returned to reception, to ask if I could move to a room to the rear of the property for my 2nd night as these are not on the main road into Bendigo as I could see the motel was full that night and moving rooms wouldn’t be an option. I reminded the lady I’d requested not to be in a room on the main road and she advised me I had asked for a room that didn’t “face” the main road and my room didn’t. I said I’d come to reception the next morning to see about a room move.
The noise from the road continued throughout the night - it’s relentless although it does ease. Also, when I checked my booking & the room options at this motel, I realised I’d been allocated a family room that had a double bed and 2 single beds; there was no resemblance to the Deluxe Queen room I’d booked and paid for (I didn’t need 3 beds). See my photo where it is nothing like the advertised Deluxe Queen rooms for instance, it has a double bed!
The next morning I went to reception & experienced one of the most unpleasant encounters I’ve ever had at a motel/hotel. The woman on reception was different & her name tag read “Manager”. I calmly explained that I was concerned I’d booked a Deluxe Queen room & I’d been allocated a Family Room, her response was “your room is a deluxe queen room”. I mentioned my request for a room away from the main road & was told “the motel is on a main road”. I mentioned the rooms that were away from the road & asked for one of these for my 2nd night and was told “we’re fully booked”. I suggested we had 2 options, I could move rooms or I’d have to leave. I was told to leave. I said I’d already paid & was told “you haven’t paid” I replied I had paid but again she said I hadn’t so I showed her my bank statement on my phone. I didn’t receive an apology when it was found I had paid.
Bendigo is a charming city and worth visiting but I don’t recommend staying at this motel.
