This review is long overdue.
Last year after some family bereavement we treated my in laws to a Sunday carvery here. I am not a fan of carvery's and went not expecting too much but knew my in laws would love it and my children would enjoy it also as it was something of a different dining experience than they were used to. I have previously experienced 'spreadable vegetables' and dry tough meat.
We were greeted and sat down in a homely, tasteful, comfortable restaurant. Drinks orders were taken immediately and there on in our experience was pleasant.
The restaurant Manager Alice and her staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. The meat was tender and delicious and the vegetables were not overcooked, perfection. There was a large choice of vegetables, stuffing's, sauces and gravy, something for everyone's tastes.
I did something I rarely ever do, I complimented the chef.
I am a keen cook myself and rarely find a dining experience worth writing about but the carvery is something the Calcot Best Western Hotel does very well indeed.
Thank you, we'll be back. less
