The people working here were charming, the room was comfortable, the food was ok. But the restaurant did have some odd quirks! Apart from being a little late with breakfasts which did not start until 07.00 and opened late, it was to all intents and purposes a buffet just like a premier inn or similar, but seemed to think it wasn't. Someone bringing tea or toast to the table does not transform it into waitress service, but somehow I think we were expected to think it was.The previous evening there had been a small crowd of people, presumably all hotel guests, waiting for the restaurant and that too had opened just a tiny bit late, and guests had to wait to be seated. It all just felt a little out of kilter with the kind of hotel it actually is.
But no matter - the charm of the people made up for it somewhat and dinner was excellent, very pleasant. And the noise was very low despite roadworks not far from the front of the hotel. I would recommend it and will stay again. less
