Our check in process was very good. Front dest staff was efficient and super friendly. Plus they brought out freshly baked chocolate chip cookies!! Upon entering the room, it looked very nice but had a strong cleaning smell to it. My husband felt like it smelled as if the carpet had just been shampoo'd. Good and bad.... Carpet still felt damp and strong chemical smell - vs.- clean carpet. We chose to stay in the room. Then a bit later we found a pretty nasty bit of what appeared to be dried poop on the toilet seat. OH NO!!
The bed slept great, the room was super quiet!! So in the morning, we had to get moving early so we were the first people down to breakfast. Eggs were not hot enough. I thought the sausage was nasty. My husband had the biscuit (cold) and gravy (ice cold). Luckily they had a microwave. Added a bit of salsa to the eggs and heated them up - not bad at all. I was going to have some raisin bran - but it was in one of those tall cylinder dispensers that just don't make any sense to me - especially in a humid location. You guessed it..... stale!! AND finally, when I went to the desk to check out, I was going to mention my concerns, BUT, the front desk clerk handled my complete transaction while talking on the phone - I am pretty sure it was a personal call. Made me so mad I told her how inappropriate I thought it was, she did appologize, but did NOT hang up....
We stayed in Abilene one other time and we were dissatisfied with that hotel also - maybe this is the Abilene standard. We will pick a different town to stay in next time we travel this way. less
