Stayed 3 nights to allow 2 full days at Beamish Museum, would do the same just to explore the grounds and eat there. A beautiful building in stunning surroundings with totally committed staff and a brilliant chef, from reception to the restaurant/bar we were treated like VIPs who were known and liked by the staff. The food was outstanding. Breakfast had lots of local produce, delicious and cooked to perfection. The evening meals in the Stables Restaurant were excellent, I recommend the Potted Wild Rabbit. The wine list was good and great value. The ground floor room was very large with an equally large and well appointed bath room. The shower wet room was brilliant, we are a bit too old for the double Jacuzzi bath that was also there, and ,joy of joys, big, fluffy towels.
A classic example of providing modern facilities in an historic building without spoiling its charm or character. less
