It’s safe to say this stunning boutique hotel located near Bath is rather special. As well as being the first WorldHotels Crafted Collection property in the world, it has a pretty well-known owner and is home to some, shall we say eclectic, items. Intrigued?

Take a look below to find out more…

1. It’s owned by Marco Pierre White

Yes, that’s right, the first ever celebrity chef and original enfant terrible of the UK restaurant scene is the proud owner of The Rudloe Arms. In fact, he even lives there and has described it as “a home not a hotel”.

“Marco came in to say hello and stood chatting to my hubby”

2. The building dates back to the Victorian era…

…and still boasts a number of original features which have been lovingly restored, including the rather impressive stone staircase.

“A beautiful balance has been struck between modern and contemporary and rustic and homely - the iconic photographs of Marco compliment the high ceilings and original stone staircases of Rudloe perfectly.”

3. It’s home to a very impressive art collection

Marco is known for his love of both the finer things in life and the eclectic, and nowhere is this more apparent than The Rudloe Arms’ décor. Classic photos by celebrity snappers David Bailey and Terry O’Neill sit alongside an original Damien Hirst, vintage toys and taxidermy. It’s an art-lover’s paradise. But be warned, some of the racier pictures have led to guests requesting a room change!

“Quirky is an understatement for this hotel.”

4. The bedrooms are out of this world

The curiosities aren’t just for communal areas. Each of the hotel’s bedrooms is completely unique and beautifully decorated. Expect vintage rocking horses at the foot of the bed, telescopes for admiring the countryside views, outrageous artwork on the walls and even a bedhead made from an old circus sign.

“Our room was outrageously wonderful; some might say over the top but we loved it.”

5. The restaurant is a must-visit

OK, you might have guessed this one! Marco himself may not run the kitchen but the team of chefs do an incredible job of tantalising guests’ taste buds. Locally sourced game and produce are used to create the delicious seasonal dishes that are prominent on the menu. Is your mouth watering yet?

“Food was simple and delicious using local produce with true Marco essence!”

6. It’s set in 14 acres of gorgeous grounds

It’s not just the inside that’s impressive. If you can tear yourself away from the comfortable lounges, there’s mature grounds, formal lawns and wooded areas to explore. As you stroll you can meet and greet some of the many animals who live in the grounds. There’s currently pigs, sheep, geese and chickens and some cows are getting ready to move in.

“The gardens and surrounds are meticulously maintained and designed for leisurely strolls to take in the beautiful Somerset countryside.”
